How Massey’s Started
Massey’s was established back in 1949 by the Massey family and has been a community staple ever since. We met up with current owner Amber White and she told us about the history of Massey’s, how they make their custard, and the delicious treats they serve.
Since Massey’s opened, it has changed ownership five times. Though the ownership changed, the recipes and traditions remained the same. From the beginning, they have offered their own recipes for classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry and each of these classics are still on the menu today. They also make custom hand dip flavors that they cycle through such as chocolate peanut butter cup, coffee, and many more!
Massey’s Classic Frozen Treats
While there, Amber showed us how to make one of Rebecca’s favorites, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Arctic Mount! An arctic mount is another signature on their menu and is like a blizzard from Dairy Queen (but better because it’s real custard)! Each customer gets to choose either chocolate or vanilla soft serve as well as a candy add in such as peanut butter cups, Oreo cookie pieces, cookie dough, and more. Rebecca chose chocolate ice cream paired with peanut butter cups and got to make this delicious creation from beginning to end!
Another classic at Massey’s is their Chocolate, Vanilla Soft Serve Twist; a simple favorite that has been around forever! You can get this delicious treat in a bowl, regular cone, sugar cone, or waffle cone. You can also choose to add either chocolate or rainbow sprinkles. Rebecca also got to make this creation, learning that it takes a bit of practice to make the perfect ice cream cone.
Other menu items include a variety of custom hand dipped ice cream flavors, shakes, malts, banana splits, sundaes, ice cream cakes, soft drinks, floats, and slushies.
